Pregnancy Diagnosis in the Mare
Dwight G. Bennett, DVM, PhD
Diplomate American College of Theriogenologists

The purpose of this program is to review pregnancy diagnosis in mares utilizing rectal palpation, transrectal ultrasound and hormone assays. You may click the mouse on any stage of pregnancy to see illustrations of rectal and/or ultrasound findings for that stage. You may click on ULTRASOUND, RECTAL or ENDOCRINOLOGY to review the specific use of each of these modalities in pregnancy diagnosis.

For a comprehensive review it is suggested that you begin with the examination of the nonpregnant mare and proceed chronologically through all stages of pregnancy from 12 to 340 days.
